Dandasana – Staff Pose

Dandasana, or staff pose, is a beginner level position that aims to stretch your shoulders and rib cage.

The health benefits associated with the dandasana pose primarily focuses on toning the back muscles and improving their posture (in relation to straightening the curvature of your spine).

However, if you have experienced any recent or chronic back injury you should always consult a doctor before attempting the position. If possible, always arrange to learn this position under the supervision of an experienced teacher.

Instructions for Dandasana

  • Place your fingertips on the floor. Feet, hips and fingertips should all be pointed to the front
