Tulasana – Balance Pose

Tulasana, or balance pose, is an intermediate level position that aims to stretch your arms, shoulders, abdomen, wrists, back, hips.

 

The health benefits associated with the tulasana pose focuses on strengthening and toning the back, shoulders and hips.

 

However, if you have recently suffered from shoulder or wrist injury, you should always consult a doctor before attempting the position. If possible, always arrange to learn this position under the supervision of an experienced teacher.

 

Instructions for Tulasana
  • Begin in the lotus pose
  • Place your hands flat on the ground, next to your hips.
  • Inhale, and contract your arms so that your body is lifted off the ground.
  • Hold your body in that position for approximately 20 seconds. You should maintain normal breathing.
  • Slowly drop your body down.
